Kristin Laboe's bio
Kristin Laboe joined IREX in August 2009 to work on the Teaching Excellence and Achievement [58], the International Leaders in Education [59], and the Teachers for Global Classrooms [60] Programs. Kristin works primarily on programming for U.S. teachers, developing content and providing support for Fellows as they participate in professional development through international engagement and travel.
Prior to joining IREX, Kristin was a secondary school teacher at a boarding school for impoverished students in a township just outside of Port-au-Prince, Haiti. While living at the Haitian school, her work included teaching English as a Third Language and basic computer literacy to students in grades 9 through 13, leading gender empowerment retreats, and coaching the girls' soccer team.
Kristin graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Notre Dame with a B.A. in Finance and certificate in International Business. She minored in European Studies with a focus on higher education international exchange programs in the EU. Kristin studied abroad for one academic year in Angers, France, at the Université Catholique de l'Ouest, where she earned a diploma of business French from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Paris. She speaks French and Haitian Kreyol.
Although no longer a coach, Kristin continues to play soccer in her free time.
