As a Program Manager at Buchanan Child Community-Based Care, Joseph Mehdeh administers conflict resolution programs in communities affected by civil war and religious tension. Joseph has worked on a youth sports and theater program promoting peace; community outreach campaigns; peacebuilding trainings; counseling sessions; and the creation of conflict resolution community committees.
While in the U.S., Joseph worked with the Chicago-based organization Ceasefire [6] where he focused on a project titled the “Chicago Project for Violence Prevention”, providing general program support while utilizing his experience in Liberia to make recommendations for program innovations.
After returning to Liberia, Joseph sought to support existing peacebuilding initiatives among young people in Buchanan and to provide additional conflict mitigation interactions among youth through training workshops, community meetings and sporting events. He is planning to organize workshops on the weekends to train 150 participants.
