Emily Longenecker's bio
Emily Longenecker works on the International Leaders in Education Program (ILEP) [6], the Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program (TEA) [7], and Teachers for Global Classrooms (TGC) [8]. These programs provide professional development training for teachers from 45 countries. Emily specifically works closely with and provides support to experienced educators from across the United States, as a part of the TGC program, to foster internationalization of classrooms and curricula. Emily also serves as a liaison with ILEP host universities and provides support for the recruitment of ILEP fellows.
Prior to joining IREX, Emily was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Cape Verde, West Africa at the University of Cape Verde. As a Teacher Trainer volunteer, Emily worked with the Department of Social Sciences and Humanities to develop academic programming and resources for future and current teachers. Emily received an Ed.M. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education in International Education Policy and a BA in History and Religious Studies from the University of Virginia.
