As the Executive Director of the Liberian nonprofit organization, NAYMOTE Partners for Democratic Development [8], Eddie Jarwolo manages programs that seek to empower youth through increasing their participation in political processes and engagement in community life.
During the CSP fellowship, Eddie worked with the Bus Project [9] and its local partner organizations in Portland, Oregon, on a variety of community organizing and civic education initiatives.
After returning to Liberia, Eddie launched his follow-on project, the Liberian Bus Project, under the auspices of a National Endowment for Democracy-funded youth civic engagement project. The Liberian Bus Project, modeled after Eddie’s host organization’s work, is a national campaign to encourage youth to become active citizens and participants in democratic processes and has galvanized close to 300 youth from across Liberia. A recent civic engagement training brought together another 60 Liberian youth.
