As Program Officer at Liberia’s Trauma Healing and Reconciliation Program, Abel Learwellie works with conflict-affected community members on peaceful coexistence, healing, and reconciliation, targeting the communities’ most at-risk members, including child soldiers, war affected youth, and women who have been raped.
While in the U.S., Abel worked at Fellowship of Reconciliation [6] where he developed the project “I WILL NOT KILL”, in concert with colleagues, which focuses on ending gun violence, and worked with a satellite coalition to share best training practices.
After returning to Liberia, Abel implemented The Community Conflict Resolution and Peace Building Project which trained 120 youth leaders in conflict resolution, reconciliation, trauma healing, good governance and human rights, through a series of workshops.
