As Project Monitor for International Relief and Development (IRD) in Liberia, Ambrose Forpoh administers women’s empowerment and job training programs, with a particular focus on agricultural development for rural women.
While in the U.S., Ambrose worked with the Atlanta Day Shelter for Women and Children [8], providing support to the organization’s job preparation and training programs.
After returning to Liberia, Ambrose implemented his follow-on project which empowered women through supporting and strengthening the establishment of small agro-businesses and subsequently an increase in food production and livelihoods. As a result of the project, 18 women from the Salayea District were trained in agricultural practices including planting techniques, harvesting, post-harvesting processing, marketing and basic bookkeeping methods. Based on the success of the project, IRD will look to incorporate Ambrose’s project approach in future programming.
