Aaron N. Bornstein's Bio
The Social Service Program (SSP) is the largest grants program in Central Asia supporting grants to NGOs to provide services to children and youth from poor households. The Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) similarly is the largest non-government higher education scholarship program in Kazakhstan. Both of these programs were started from scratch under Aaron's leadership and are now established, growing and becoming increasingly well-recognized.
Aaron has been striving to work for IREX all of his professional life. His dream was fulfilled in February 2009 when he started the BOTA [9] assignment. Before that he bided his time as a Chief of Party/Country Director in eight other countries, working for a variety of non-and for-profit organizations in areas such as civil society, anti-corruption and private sector development.
Aaron is an accomplished jazz musician (in his fantasy life). In the real world he once hosted a jazz program on a public radio station.
