IREX is pleased to announce the recipients of the TEA/ILEP Alumni Small Grants competition for the Fall 2010 cycle. After careful review of the 55 grant applications received, IREX, in conjunction with an independent selection committee and representatives from the U.S. Department of State, has selected 21 alumni of the Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program (TEA) [35] and 16 alumni of the International Leaders in Education Program (ILEP) [36] to receive funding for their original small grant project ideas.
All alumni of the TEA and ILEP programs are eligible to apply [37] for up to $5,000 for projects that benefit secondary education in their home countries. Projects awarded this cycle include a Science Expo; a project on Character Education, a Life-Skills curriculum, two projects for students with special needs, a bilingual service learning project, and teacher training workshops on topics such as student centered learning for math teachers, improving English language instruction, and developing reading comprehension. Congratulations and good luck to all the Small Grant awardees as they begin implementing their projects. The next deadline for TEA ILEP Alumni Small Grant applications is February 1, 2011. TEA and ILEP are programs of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs [38] of the U.S. Department of State, and implemented by IREX.
