Zeboniso Muradova, a TEA alumna from Tajikistan, led a one-day workshop in January for teachers on cooperative learning and multiple intelligences.
Muradova first modeled the cooperative learning methods with the other teachers by leading them in games and activities that engaged all group participants in reaching a shared goal. The teachers then explored multiple intelligences and how people with different intelligences go through a different learning process.
Experiencing cooperative activities and evaluating their own intelligences and learning styles gave the teachers first-hand insight into these methods from a learner’s perspective. The participants can adapt these methods to enhance their teaching in literature, science, math, and social sciences classes.
In addition to the training on these methods, Muradova answered questions about U.S. schools, drawing on her two-week internship at Valley Middle School in Grand Forks, North Dakota. The participating teachers were enthusiastic about the training and invited her to conduct more workshops.
