Konstantine (Koba) Grdzelishvili (Muskie ‘03) and Nini Jokhadze (UGRAD ‘07) visited high school students in Gori as a part of Georgian Alumni Quarterly Events. Mr. Grdzelishvili studied education in the US and already has a substantial experience in teaching school children. Mr. Grdzelishvili and Ms. Jokhadze held a CV-writing and motivational letter writing workshop, which covered a number of related topics. The alumni started by explaining the range of opportunities existing for young people both within Georgia and abroad; a short movie on Youth Summer Camp on Leadership was screened for the children showing them the ways and benefits of being active; both alumni made brief presentation about their experiences in the U.S. and talked about the key points of the Flex, UGRAD and Muskie programs. The second part of the presentation covered several possibilities for international education for Georgian students and the core requirements for these programs, the CV and the statement of purpose. As a part of the workshop everyone had to compose their own CV. The children seemed to enjoy this part the most. The workshop was held with an informal and friendly atmosphere and lasted much longer than planned. Alumni touched upon many related topics and answered the various questions raised by the children.
