Vitalie Diaconu, a Moldovan MA fellow in International Affairs at the Monterey Institute of International Studies, conducted his community service with Global Majority, a nonprofit organization whose aim is to promote nonviolent conflict resolution education, negotiations, mediation, and advocacy in Monterey County. Vitalie worked with members of the board of directors as well as with the interns enrolled from the second-year students from Monterey Institute. In December 2005 Vitalie led a workshop for 10th graders from North Monterey County High-School. The goal of the workshop was to develop practical negotiations skills as well as introducing conflict resolution. The workshop consisted of three sessions, which were two-hours each. He also conducted two workshops for 7th graders in La Paz Middle Scholl from Salinas and plans on continuing these workshops at other middle and high schools in Monterey County.
