In honor of International Roma Day [5](April 8), the U.S. Embassy in Romania [6]recognized Romani CRISS [7]for 20 years of dedicated work promoting Roma rights. In a press release [8], the Charge d'Affaires Duane Buthcher, remarked, "Romani CRISS’ perseverance and commitment to fight inequality and prejudice has unquestionably made a difference in the lives of Roma all these years."
IREX has partnered with Romani CRISS to implement the Youth Civic Engagement and Dialogue Program [9](YCED), which brings together Roma and non-Roma students in Romania and Moldova to engage in community development projects by working across ethnic lines to solve local problems.
