In the April 2012 edition of The NonProfit Times [10]IREX is named one of the Top 50 Best Nonprofits to Work For. In the category of medium organizations, IREX ranked number five and overall ranked thirteenth. IREX staff identified a strong commitment to IREX’s mission: “Make A Better World.” In addition to rewarding work towards improving lives around the world, IREX hosts a monthly meeting for all staff, offers generous benefits including subsidized health insurance, summer flex schedules and frequent social events to celebrate staff achievements.
“It is truly an honor to lead an organization like IREX, but it is the dedicated and hard-working staff that earned this award. They are committed not only to IREX’s mission to Make A Better World but also to each other and making IREX a truly wonderful workplace,” said IREX President W. Robert Pearson on the achievement.
IREX is recognized alongside well known non-profits including LiveStrong, the Make A Wish Foundation, and the American Heart Association. The Best Nonprofits receive this distinction based on employee surveys responding to questions on subjects such as leadership and planning, corporate culture and communications, role satisfaction, work environment, relationship with supervisor, training and development, pay and benefits and overall employee engagement.
IREX Human Resources Manager Vickie L. Robinson is pleased with this news, but not quite surprised. “There an inside joke we have, that IREX has a high rate of recidivism, approximately 13% of the current staff have left and returned to IREX. I think that speaks highly to how IREX is a one of the best nonprofits to work for.”
