While Kony 2012 drew global attention to the heinous acts of warlord Joseph Kony, it is criticized for the absence of African voices on the situation. Too often the news of Africa [11] is focused on disease, corruption, and disasters. IREX is bringing together experts, donors and policymakers to discuss ways to support development through African leadership [12]. Former child soldier now accomplished NGO leader Mr. Anywar will share his experiences helping youth in Uganda and comment on his engagement with his U.S. peers. The other panelists will offer views on the role of women and other factors in promoting African growth.
Coffee and pastries will be provided.
To attend please RSVP [10] by Wednesday June 27, 2012.
