Policymakers and experts are gathering for a frank and open dialog on critical issues in contemporary US-Russian relations. Fifteen pairs of American and Russian experts who collaborated for ten weeks at leading American think thanks and universities as part of the US-Russia Experts Forum program will present the results of their research and policy recommendations at a conference at the Hotel Baltschug Kempinsky in Moscow, Russia, on December 5-6, 2006.
The conference gives policymakers and experts the opportunity to provide concrete recommendations regarding the important decisions facing their countries to an audience of their peers. Over 200 Russian and US analysts and policymakers are expected to attend the event.
As part of the US-Russia Experts Forum, policymakers and experts analyzed complex questions, such as Iran’s nuclear program, eastward expansion of the EU and NATO, and the independence of the judiciary system in the United States and Russia. Conference panel sessions give participants an opportunity to engage in a comprehensive and stimulating dialog on contemporary issues and provide concrete recommendations regarding the important decisions facing their countries.
The primary goal of the US-Russia Experts Forum (Forum), a program of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the United States Department of State, implemented by IREX, is to foster dialogue and partnerships between US and Russian experts on public policy issues and processes, culminating in the development of policy recommendations and conclusions.
