Several 2008 Muskie fellows were profiled in a recent article [7] on the website of the US Embassy in Uzbekistan.
Saida Akbarova, Rustam Sapaev, Margarita Aksyonova, and Alisher Makhkamov studied in varied locations and programs but all four fellows identify a common theme of discovery when describing their fellowships. Whether it was a community service project at the Minority AIDS Council or a substantial research initiative on renewable energy, the experiences that these alumni had in the US are leading to new opportunities for them at home in Uzbekistan.
