Sarah Hennessey

Director/Education Programs Manager, Azerbaijan

Sarah is the Country Director and Education Programs Manager of IREX‘s office in Azerbaijan.  She oversees Muskie and Global UGRAD program recruitment and selection, as well as alumni activities for fellows of these programs and the TEA program.

With more than five years of educational exchange programming experience in the United States and Eurasia, Sarah brings strong administrative and project- management skills and a deep understanding of exchange program administration.

For more than two years Sarah implemented the ECA-funded Edmund S.Muskie graduate fellowship program in the United States.  Previously, she was the on-campus coordinator for the USAID-funded East Central European Scholar program at The George Washington University, helped to develop a USAID-funded training curriculum for teachers in Kenya, worked as a case manager and volunteer coordinator for World Relief, a federal, state, and local grant-supported refugee resettlement agency in Atlanta, and taught English in Croatia.

Sarah holds an MA in International Education from The George Washington University and a BS in Science, Technology and Culture from Georgia Tech.

In her free time, she enjoys exploring the countryside of Azerbaijan in a 1979 mustard-yellow Lada.
