Ryder Cobean
Ryder Cobean brings his passion for using technology to facilitate educational and community development to IREX. Mr. Cobean served in the United States Peace Corps in 2007-2008, in the Republic of Georgia. During his service, he advised school administrators on grading reform, designed and facilitated open source software training sessions for regional educators, and worked to extend a youth leadership camp for girls into Georgia’s ethnic minority regions.
Since joining IREX in 2010, Mr. Cobean has coordinated virtual exchanges between hundreds of United States high school students and their peers in Kyrgyzstan, Vietnam, and the Philippines, is an active member of the Technology for Development Community of Practice, and supports IREX’s portfolio in the development of a thriving independent media sector in the Caucasus and the Middle East. Proficient in Russian and conversational in Armenian and Georgian, Mr. Cobean is skilled in graphic design and information visualization, using these abilities to promote and communicate program successes.

Though passionate about Georgian cuisine, he leaves the cooking to others; his last attempt at baking khachapuri was more soup than bread.
