Nazgul Sharshenova
As Junior Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist at the State Committee of Water Resources and Land Improvement of the Kyrgyz Republic, Nazgul Sharshenova works on programs to help farmers increase their agricultural productivity.
While in the U.S., Nazgul worked at the Kansas Water Office where she researched agricultural practices and theories while playing a critical role in the office’s Annual Water Program Accomplishments Report.
Upon returning to Kyrgyzstan, Nazgul's follow-on project included working with local communities to establish Water Users Associations so that water management is in the hands of farmers. The project formed a Water Users Association in northern Kyrgyzstan for a group of farmers who drew from the Big Chui Canal. The association was officially registered in May 2012 and is in the process of electing board members and deciding on membership fees and water prices.
