Musa Soko
As Executive Coordinator of the Youth Partnership for Peace and Development, Musa Soko manages several programs that seek to tackle the issues of gender-based and domestic violence within Sierra Leonean communities.
During his fellowship, Musa worked with the Shelter for Abused Women and Children in Naples, Florida where he supported the organization’s outreach and programmatic efforts. He also provided guidance and recommendations to the Shelter on the ways in which they can more effectively engage religious institutions in order to better address domestic violence in Floridian communities.
Afte returning to Sierra Leone, Musa began implementing his follow-on project which aims to provide female victims of sexual and gender-based violence with skills and resources to obtain employment and/or start up their own small businesses. The project plans to administer a series of vocational training, entrepreneurship and business literacy programs, and provides access to start-up materials and resources for business development.
