Lyn Gray

Senior Civil Society Specialist

Lyn manages the civil society activities of the USAID-funded Civil Society and Media Leadership Program in Liberia (CSML).

The program’s goal is to sustain peace in Liberia through greater inclusion, informing, engaging, and giving a voice to Liberian citizens. Through skills training, the program increases Civil Society Organizations’ ability to link their constituents’ views to the public policy progress in seven targeted counties. Training, technical assistance, mentoring and grants to CSOs are sequenced across a five-year period.

Lyn first came to Liberia in the 1970s as a Peace Corps volunteer and more recently spent seven years since the Liberian war strengthening the capacity of Liberian NGOs and CSOs. She has experience in training, organizational leadership and management, international development, and education. During her time in the Peace Corps, Lyn served as Country Director in Niger, Associate Director in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Executive Director of the National Peace Corps Association. She also directed international programs and student activities at both Virginia Tech and Georgetown Universities.

Lyn has a B.A. in French from University of Mary Washington and an M.S. in Russian from Georgetown University.
