Iva Lazarova
CSP Leader - Bulgaria
As the International Relations Coordinator of the Institute for Public Environment Development in Bulgaria, Iva Lazarova serves as an expert on international law and coordinates the organization’s international partnerships.
During her CSP fellowship, Iva worked for Common Cause Vermont assisting with the organization’s efforts to increase the transparency of campaign financing and voter knowledge of the influence of money on state government.
Upon returning to Bulgaria, Iva implemented her follow-on project, the Open Parliament Initiative, which is a web portal publishing data on Parliamentarians’ voting trends, campaign financing and issues related to public policy. With an immediately positive response from the local media and government officials, over 58,000 unique visitors have accessed the online portal as of July 2012.
