Isatu Ville

At the National Student Christian Council in Liberia, Isatu Ville coordinates projects that engage young women in local and national politics; encourages women’s participation in community life and leadership activities; and provides a forum from which to advocate for issues that affect Liberian women.

While in the U.S., Isatu worked with the DC-based civic and voter education organization Rock the Vote, where she provided support to the organization’s communications strategy and civic education programs for U.S. high school students.

Upon returning to Liberia, Isatu implemented her follow-on project which aimed to foster a sense of community service and civic participation among Liberian youth in three high schools. The project consisted of a series of classroom workshops and a school club that served as a platform for youth-led dialogue and project design. Eight student leaders were appointed and were responsible for youth-led activities in the community. Through their leadership, over 900 of their school peers were reached and subsequently engaged in a variety of service learning activities.
