Emerson Kamara
CSP Leader - Sierra Leone

As Executive Director with Peacelinks in Sierra Leone, Emerson Kamara trains local government officials on how to be more transparent in their financial operations. His programs aim to develop an ongoing dialogue between the public and local government offices.

During his fellowship in the U.S., Kamara worked for Colorado Common Cause where he was involved in the public education and monitoring of the November, 2011 elections in Denver, lobbied government officials on issues like the reform of the media monopoly laws, and assisted the organization in its communication efforts.

Upon returning to Sierra Leone, Emerson began implementing his follow-on project which aimed to increase youth’s knowledge of political party platforms and general voting procedures, and to decrease elections-inspired violence among youth through creative arts. At the end of July, 2012, the project received a grant from the National Endowment for Democracy for continued implementation.
