Ashley Snell

Senior Program Officer, Education Programs Division

Ashley Snell joined the International Leaders in Education (ILEP) and Teaching Excellence and Achievement (TEA) team in 2008. During her tenure at IREX she has worked with many cohorts of international secondary school teachers, participating host universities and U.S. Embassies around the world to successfully implement both programs.

Before joining IREX Ashley worked as a teacher trainer for the Peace Corps in Zambia and taught English in Madrid, Spain. Ashley holds a BA in Global Studies from the University of California in Santa Barbara and an MA in International Education from the George Washington University.

Ashley traveled to Cuba in 2009 for an educational research tour and presented her work on Cuban teacher education at the World Congress of Comparative Education Society meeting in Istanbul, Turkey in 2010. Ashley speaks fluent Spanish and basic Arabic, Hebrew, Italian and Tonga (Zambia Bantu language).

Ashley’s parents live on Guam. She may be the first person to have ever flown there directly from Zambia.
