Alex Lawoko
Alex Lawoko currently works as Chairperson with the Gulu Deaf Association, as well as Treasurer and Member of the Board of Directors at the Uganda National Association of the Deaf. He is an expert in the areas of rural deaf community mobilization, gender inclusion, and fundraising for deaf groups. He plans to concentrate his efforts on training deaf adults in economic empowerment for self-reliance by providing seed capital in the form of materials and training.
While in the U.S., Alex worked with Westchester Disabled On the Move (WDOM) in New York attending community economic development meetings and trainings, presenting at WDOM’s Spirit of Independence Gala, and interviewing people with disabilities, service providers, and advocates to learn of their efforts in community economic development and advocacy for disadvantaged individuals.
