IREX, ABA/CEELI, and Croatian Journalists Association Present Journalist's Guide to Criminal Court Proceedings

IREX, the American Bar Association's Central and Eastern Europe Law Initiative (ABA/CEELI), and the Croatian Journalists Association (CJA) have released the Journalist's Guide to Criminal Procedure in Croatia, written by Zagreb County court judge Marin Mrcela. IREX and its partners publicly presented the 43-page guidebook on June 27 at a special event hosted by ABA/CEELI and attended by the editors-in-chief of Croatia's leading magazines and newspapers, the president of the Supreme Court, and several other judges. Specifically designed to help journalists better understand court proceedings, the easy-to-read handbook seeks to assist journalists in covering criminal cases. As a follow up, IREX and its partners organized a series of training workshops on the legal system for journalists throughout Croatia, to which editors-in-chief were encouraged to send their staff.
