IREX's Internet Training for Journalists in Bosnia and Herzegovina Receives European Media Coverage

IREX has been providing innovative Internet and computer-assisted reporting training to Bosnian journalists since May 2000. These extensive efforts were recently highlighted by an article on the website of Europe Media Net. Information on the training was also included in the International Journalists Network (IJNet).

The trainings are part of the USAID-funded Professional Media Program, administered by IREX. As part of their training, journalists study new research techniques that can be used to gather information for stories. These techniques are vital in a country that has few reporting resources. To keep journalists informed and up-to-date on the latest Web developments, IREX also publishes a popular bimonthly newsletter called BiH Link, which is mailed to 400 regular recipients.
