Meeting with Nongovernmental Organizations

On April 26, the President of the Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev has met in his residence representatives of the nongovernmental organizations of the USA functioning in Azerbaijan. At the meeting, attending were representatives of the Soros Foundation, organizations Human Rights Watch, Freedom house, IREX and National Institute of Democracy.
Head of IREX Mark Pomar welcomed President Ilham Aliyev and introduced the head of the Azerbaijan state to participants of meeting.
President Ilham Aliyev said: “My visit to Washington is a fine opportunity to solve the questions representing mutual interest between Azerbaijan and the USA, and it will be of great importance for the further development of cooperation of our countries”.
Mr. Pomar said: “We carry out in Azerbaijan programs of exchange in the field of education, ambassador Hafiz Pashayev yet during the Soviet time, that is in 1970s, was one of the first graduates-Azerbaijanis of the said project. It is a good example of our cooperation”.
Then, representatives of the non-governmental organizations have told about activity and perspective projects of their organizations. They said Azerbaijan has created all conditions for work of the nongovernmental organizations. The given organizations have important tasks in the further strengthening of Azerbaijan, support of its fair position and communicated the truth about the country to the world, and the work in this direction will continue.
