US Scholar Photo Contest Results!

Congratulations to Maria Sonevystky, the winner of this year's US Scholar Photo Contest!

Maria Sonevytsky was a 2008-2009 Individual Advanced Research Opportunities (IARO) fellow. Her research project was entitled "Civilizing Wilderness: Musical Practices as Political and Economic Resources in Contemporary Ukraine."

We would like to thank all the IREX alumni, who participated in this contest, and shared images of their research experience in the field.

The photo contest runners-up are Maria Bucur-Deckard (below, left) and Nathaniel Wood, both former Short-Term Travel Grant (STG) fellows. Eligible US Scholar Photo Contest participants were alumni of the IARO, STG, and US Embassy Policy Specialist Program (EPS) fellowships.

All of these programs are part of IREX's long-standing support for research and exchange in Europe and Eurasia during the past 40 years. Over 6,000 American scholars have participated in the programs since.
