Ukrainian UGRAD Alumna Blogs on the Exchange Student Experience

Larysa Maksymenko recently returned to the Ukraine after experiencing college life in the United States through the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program in Eurasia and Central Asia (Global UGRAD).

Sharing excitement about her studies at Ball State University in Muncie Indiana in 2009-2010, Larysa posted an article about her experience on her home university website. In it, she discusses differences in the Ukrainian and US higher education systems, grading procedures, and student life, noting with particular delight that she could choose her own classes and schedule, exclaiming “I’m really not a morning person!”

You can read Larysa’s article here. Note: An English translation of the article is posted at the bottom of the page, below the original Ukrainian.

The Global UGRAD program is administered by IREX and funded by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the US Department of State.
