IREX is proud to announce a new grants component of the Ukraine Media Partnership Program (UMPP). Program Officers recently awarded seven small grants to regional media outlets across Ukraine, targeted at modernizing their web presence.
With projects ranging from Informtavryka’s website redesign to incorporate pollution mapping reports updated daily, to Redaktsiya MV’s updated regional news website and brand new students’ website based out of Zaporizhya National University, the grants highlight a wide variety of development opportunities for regional media in Ukraine.
Awardees are both UMPP alumni and new partners. They will use the funds to expand their web presence, integrate social media, and improve the platforms they use to share important news.
With increasing convergence becoming a hallmark of media outlets in the US and across the world, it is necessary for television stations, newspapers, and other traditional outlets in Ukraine to bring their websites up-to-date. This helps improve their ability to interact with audiences and effectively cover regional and national events.
IREX/Ukraine will soon be announcing a second round of small grants, also targeted at modernizing the newsrooms and platforms of regional Ukrainian outlets.
