Indonesian street food seller displays his wares in Jakarta

I recently got back from a two week trip in Indonesia, where I was doing research on civil society, religious tolerance, conflict resolution, women's rights, youth issues, and technology.  Indonesia is the world's largest majority Muslim country as well as the third biggest democracy, and with thousands of islands, cultures, and languages is a very interesting place to visit.

One of my favorite things about Indonesia - both from a previous stay in 2005 and this trip - is the food, my favorite in the world. So, I'm going to use this opportunity to share some pictures of Indonesian street food.

Padang food, from Sumatra, is served in these storefront cafeterias throughout Jakarta.  Everything is spicy and delicious
