Following the democratic efforts of the past year and the movement’s objective to be a “rebirth of freedom,” we will consider the progress of the efforts, and further, how democratic movements have affected international development in the region.
Our moderator, Barrie Freeman, Director of North Africa Programs at the National Democratic Institute, will use expertise to guide the discussion between, Ambassador W. Bob Pearson, President of IREX, Thomas Vajda, U.S. Department of State, and Scott Mastic, MENA Regional Director at IRI. Based on their wide-ranging experience with the Middle East and democracy issues, they will explore the complexity surrounding these timely and compelling topics and the consequences they may hold for future development in the region.
