IREX hosted a delegation of Chinese university administrators and Ministry of Education officials for a presentation on the US higher education system. The twelve person delegation was visiting the United States as part of a program by the National Committee on US-China Relations. IREX consultant Dr. Bruce Johnstone, State University of New York (SUNY) Distinguished Service University Professor of Higher and Comparative Education and former Chancellor of the SUNY system facilitated the discussion. Topics covered US federal and state governments’ roles in setting policy and in financing higher education, diversity in education, and trends in the American educational system.
In the fall of 2006, IREX will expand its University Administration Support program to China for the first time.
