IREX Featured in Inaugural Edition of The Peace Journalist

IREX is honored to be part of the inaugural edition of The Peace Journalist. The magazine is a publication of the Center for Global Peace Journalism at Park University in Parkville, Missouri USA. The semi-annual publication highlights peace and conflict sensitive journalism worldwide. The second edition of "The Peace Journalist" will be published in October, 2012.

Two USAID-funded IREX projects are featured in the publication starting on page 11, the Civil Society & Media Leadership Program in Liberia and the Strengthening Independent Minority Media Program in Kosovo.

Since the early 1990s, IREX has implemented more than $150 million in programs in support of media in more than 80 countries worldwide, including conflict-affected, transitional, and authoritarian states. Our programs engage professional and citizen journalists and media managers working across all media platforms as well as the organizations that support robust media sectors, including university journalism programs, professional associations and market research.

IREX’s media programs work with partners in many conflict-affected environments, including Iraq, Somalia, Liberia and Timor Leste. We look closely at the impact that media in varying formats can have where there is current or potential violence, or the opportunity to avoid or mitigate conflict.
