Fellow Helps Found the UNHQ Intern Development Fund

Farid Gardashbayov, a 2007 fellow from Azerbaijan, is studying Public Administration at Indiana University. Farid is one of the founders of UNHQ Intern Development Fund. Every year 4,500 graduate students apply to be an intern at the United Nations and only 270 make it. Some of those finalists could not accept such a competitive internship because they lack the means to come to New York City. Some did not even apply. Farid and others thought that amongst these people are individuals with great leadership potential who through this internship would be able to contribute back to their societies. Currently the Fund is growing in membership and activities. Farid hopes that the Fund will help those individuals who cannot afford the opportunity to be able to come to the UN and take part in this very competitive internship.
