Ukrainian 2010 business fellow Vitaliy Dubil’ isn’t waiting to share his Muskie experience with other Ukrainians. In celebration of International Education week, Dubil’ collaborated with Osvita EIAC, a Ukrainian non-profit education advising center, to hold a webinar for Ukrainian undergraduate students who are interested in studying abroad. UNISTUDY of Kiev provided information support for the online discussion.
During the webinar, Dubil’ discussed his experience as an international student at the University of Texas at Arlington and responded to questions about testing, internships, networking, and American culture. Kateryna Kanevska of Osvita answered questions about applying to US universities from Ukraine. Alina Gnatiuk, a 2010 Muskie fellow studying business at the University of Mississippi, joined the conversation to share her impressions of education in the US.
Undergraduate participants in the webinar wanted to learn more about the similarities and differences between higher education in the US and in Ukraine. Dubil’ emphasized the role of discussion, practical case studies, and project work in business classes at the University of Texas at Arlington.
When asked about international education, Dubil’ praised the University of Texas at Arlington’s diverse campus saying, “We have students from India, Nepal, China and Colombia. It’s a very good opportunity to know not only American culture and traditions but also to learn about other cultures.” Prior to his fellowship, Dubil’ volunteered in the Department of Youth and Social Programs at Osvita and founded the center’s English-speaking club.
