Event: Approaches to Reaching Vulnerable Children and Youth, Sept 22

Wednesday, September 22, 2010 | 10:00am – 11:00am
IREX 2121 K Street NW, Suite 700
Washington, DC 20037

Light refreshments will be served

Children and young people represent a disproportionately large part of the world’s poor and vulnerable. At the same time children and youth represent enormous potential for national development. Decisions that they make and opportunities they have for education, training, employment, health and civic participation will affect their countries’ long term development.

We invite you to a panel discussion that addresses the issue of vulnerable children and youth and the different approaches that are currently being used by the development community to reach them.

The panel will have representatives from:

The BOTA Foundation: The BOTA Foundation is a child welfare organization in Kazakhstan. IREX’s BOTA Foundation representative will discuss how the BOTA Foundation targets the vulnerable children and youth that participate in BOTA’s higher education, grants and CCT programs.

The World Bank: The World Bank will discuss the new World Bank STEP skills paper that presents a policy framework for skills development.

USAID: USAID will discuss US Government approaches to reaching vulnerable children and youth.

Save the Children: Save the Children will discuss evaluation methods for children and youth programming.
