Champion for Global Engagement Receives 2014 IREX Founders’ Award

In recognition of her career dedicated to making a better world, IREX presented the 2014 Founders’ Day award to Ms. Liz Schrayer, founding Executive Director of the US Global Leadership Coalition. USGLC is a highly-respected broad based coalition of 400 businesses and nonprofits, chaired by General Colin Powell. USGLC seeks to build a better, safer world through advocacy and education about the importance of our non-military tools of global engagement.

“We are pleased this year to honor a true champion for global engagement. Liz’s hard work from grassroots organizing to the national Smart Power campaign is making a better world for us all,” said IREX President Bob Pearson.

Schrayer graciously accepted the award at IREX’s 46th anniversary celebration this week. In her remarks she stated, “A strong America is an engaged America, and global development is a central component to advancing America’s security and economic interests and demonstrating our values throughout the world. IREX is a true innovator in delivering effective development programming, and I am honored to accept this award and work in this community every day in building a better, safer, more prosperous world.”

Ms. Schrayer is also President of Schrayer & Associates, Inc., a nationwide political consulting firm specializing in grassroots organizing. She worked on Capitol Hill, founding the Congressional Human Rights Caucus and in state Government. She has traveled across the country organizing citizen advocates in every state and on various issues.
