On September 30, 2006, 114 ECA alumni from across Russia came to the 2006 Career Forum and Job Fair (CF/JF) in Moscow to learn how to develop a successful career in Russia today. Alumni met with Russian and international company representatives from a variety of professional sectors to discuss employment opportunities. Sixty-two alumni of the Eurasian Undergraduate Exchange Program (UGRAD, formerly FSAU) and 52 alumni of the Russian-Young Leadership Fellows for Public Service Program (YLF) participated in the event.
The 2006 CF/JF was sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the US Department of State and was organized by IREX. The event was held at at the Radisson SAS Slavyanskaya Hotel and Business Center in Moscow, Russian Federation.
The first part of the event, the Career Forum, featured four presentations by some of Russia’s most respected recruitment and human resources professionals. The presentations provided alumni with a view of current trends in the Russian labor market and tips for developing successful careers.
Thirty-three Russian and international companies and organizations participated in the Job Fair.
This year’s Job Fair introduced a new element. For the first time, participating companies had the opportunity to make presentations about their activities and programs. Nine companies made 20-minute presentations that were attended by more then half of alumni in attendance.
As the result of the Job Fair, the company representatives met some of Russia’s most qualified young professionals, conducted individual interviews with alumni, and represented their company/organization alongside other leading international and Russian companies and organizations.
Over 100 company representatives participated in the event. Representatives of participating companies and organizations received a resume book and a CD-ROM containing the resumes of all registered alumni, a resource they will be able to use in the future.
For IREX, a full member of the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia, this was the 9th annual CF/JF organized for US-government program alumni in Russia. For more information about this event, please write to jobfair@irex.ru.
