2011 TEA Teachers Arrive in US

Teacher Fellow from India, Rajni Jaimini (2011 TEA)

Sixty-four teachers from 20 countries around the world are about to embark on a learning experience of a lifetime.

This week, IREX welcomed a new group of teachers for the Teaching Excellence and Achievement (TEA) Program, which brings outstanding secondary school teachers from abroad to the US to further develop expertise in their subject areas, enhance their teaching skills, and increase their knowledge about the United States.

The four-day welcoming program took place in Washington DC where fellows participated in various training sessions such as cross-cultural communications and the US education system. The teachers engaged through a variety of interactions, including cultural presentations and informal events.

Fellows are on their way to host universities across the nation where they will take part in a six week intensive training course in teaching methodologies and an internship at a US secondary school.

We at IREX wish the fellows the best of luck in their journey to come!

TEA is a program of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the US Department of State and implemented by IREX.

Awesome Program

...Unforgettable experience in my whole life! We learn and understand the diversity of different cultures from countries around the world. Georgia State group were exposed to what it is called an intensive course, service learning, instructional technology etc. Our group contains Mama, Papa, rest of whom were children. The university provided us laptops, classroom equipment. We went up down by elavator everyday, and we could remember the word"GOING UP....GOING DOWN". With Dr. Tinker Sach, I could remember the words"Scaffolding, and rationale". 8 days internship changed the way of being eager to know about American students classroom environment. We learned how to deal with students' behaviors. Back to DC, fun things happened during closing ceremony, while later came a day of tearful hugging to say goodbye. We promised to KEEP IN TOUCH.

TEA PROGRAM : UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE !!

Becoming part of this diverse but awesome team of international teachers has been an unforgettable experience ! Thanks to IREX for doing such excellent job of improving teaching in different parts of the world. Development cannot be separated from education, so here we are learning, sharing, absorbing as much as we can to make positive changes on our way back. I have really enjoyed my staying at Georgia State University and Cross Keys High School , where you can find people who are always eager to help !! One of the slogans of my institution " CENTRO CULTURAL SAMPEDRANO " is " Let´s be the change we want to see in the world " , so I encourage each one of you " international teachers " to go back home , to apply all what we have learned, to empower yourselves and to help our students to start those changes our society demands !!

We ar the world

It is great opportunity for us teachers to be here. Thanks to this program we can learn more about the culture, traditions of other people and other countries and of course we can learn very much about teaching and how to make our classes productive and interesting for the students. I love all the staff in Montana State University and the teachers of our group. We are already like a big family here, ready help each other in any time. Every day we learn a lot of new things from the people around us. Thanks to IREX for such a great program!

TEA program is the good but......

I do like this program so much.I can learn, explore and absorb a lot of new things that is mosly new and advanced to me.It is WONDWERFUL! IREX has dons the good job and provide good opportunity to all the outstanding teachers around the world. But the problems that we are facing are with foods and the whether. So, I just want share some advices to every participant that it is a must to be well prepared for food , clothes and medicine.I love this program very very much.

Hi!

I love this program very very much. To explore new culture, experiences, and knowledge in America is everyone's dream. A four-day warm welcome orientation in Washington was definitely a great chance to get to know other fellow teachers' cultures, customs, and the education system in their countries. A six- week participation, and internship in Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA is another good opportunity to see how well the education, and developing programs are being implemented in the area. What's more, the University is much much bigger than those in my country, with sufficient modern equipment, a lot of faculties, thousands of students..etc. Everything here completely different from my country. There are a lot to say, but what I'm gonna say is that " I am amazed.."

I am very excited to be the TEA participant in the US

I do learn a lot from this program of what i never though before. It is the best Program for teachers all around the world to learn and absorb new trend of the educational system and culture. We can share of what we have and learn from people around, especially, we are deeply aware of the education system in the United State of Americar.

Like Always, Goof Job IREX

The benefits in the Cultural Exchange programs where meetings like this involve is highly emphasized. The impact of these programs goes beyond what has been planned for. I believe that Teachers will definitely make a great change after they go back to their countries and this will surely reflect back on the way their high school students are taught and brought up. Moreover, this will affect the way countries are built, how strategies are set and plans to move the country faster than it moves now. Good job IREX, like always.
