2011 ILEP Fellows Arrive in US

Last week, 74 teachers from 15 countries around the world gathered in Washington DC for the International Leaders in Education Program (ILEP).
Initiated in 2005, ILEP brings outstanding secondary school teachers from around the world to the United States to further develop their expertise in their teaching areas, enhance their teaching skills, and increase their knowledge about the US. Fellows are based at a US university for the duration of the five-month program.
During the three-day Welcome Program, Fellows participated in training sessions on Cross-Cultural Communication, Service Learning, and Foundations of the US Education System. Fellows were also treated to welcome remarks from Deputy Assistant Secretary for Academic Programs Alina Romanowski on behalf of the US Department of State.
At their host universities, Fellows will take part in a customized academic seminar and technology training, audit graduate-level courses, and participate in an internship in a US secondary school classroom.

ILEP- is undoubtly playing an important role to spread and develop education among the international communities .Im Noor Mohammed, Head teacher of Baharchara Junior High school of cox'sbazar sadar upazilla in Bangladesh.my subject is English.I have completed Bachelor of Education from chittagong teachers training collage under national University of Bangladesh.Now im interested to participated in ILEP as early as possible.How to apply for ILEP.

Congratulations to all 2011 ILEP grantees. It's only now that I claim the credibility to say that you are all privileged to enjoy the ILEP experience. A year after my ILEP experience, I can truly say that ILEP will forever be a lifetime achievement for me. But the experience becomes even more rewarding if you get to share what you have learned when you come home to your respective countries. Enjoy the experience and don't forget to "empty your cups" so learning will just keep flowing in, no matter how adept and experienced you are. All the best to all the fellows and the IREX staff!
