In September, Ms. Keti Darakhvelidze, a 2007 fellow from Georgia studying Education at Columbia University, participated in the World Leaders Forum, an annual university-wide initiative at Columbia that serves as a center for public discussion and debate on the large economic, political, social, and cultural questions of our time. Two Columbia University alumni, Mr. Mikheil Saakashvili (Law ’94), President of the Republic of Georgia and Toomas Hendrik Ilves (’74), President of the Republic of Estonia addressed students and the faculty community about global and regional challenges, as well as future plans and goals. Ms. Darakhvelidze was able to meet and engage in a conversation with both presidents during the event. President Saakashvili showed curiosity about her academic and professional plans and was glad to hear that she was visiting the school through the Edmund S. Muskie Graduate Fellowship, as he also attended Columbia Law School as a Muskie fellow and received his Master of Laws (LL.M.) in 1994.
