Thoughts from the Arab Press Freedom Forum February 10, 2012 by Drusilla Menaker Attending the annual Arab Press Freedom Forum held last month in Tunis provided me with the opportunity to discuss the progress made and challenges ahead in media reform with colleagues from the region and from the international media development community The debates were vigorous and the opinions diverse, but I came away with a few key points:	Emerging Middle Eastern Media Leaders Complete US Fellowships February 5, 2008 Media managers from the Arab world successfully completed IREX’s six-week MENA MEDIA Emerging Leaders Fellowship, a program funded by the US Department of State Middle East Partnership Initiative. Participants in the program’s second year included editors, executive directors, and managers from media outlets and businesses representing several countries in the Arab world, including Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, West Bank/Gaza, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen.
Grants available to Arab TV companies to produce local content March 29, 2007 Independent Arab television news producers will be able to obtain financial support for their research and productions again this year. The TV Production Fund Small Grants awards will be made under the MENA MEDIA program, administered through IREX and AmmanNet and funded by the US Department of State Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI).	Eighteen Arab Media Managers to be selected for a six-week fellowship in the United States March 26, 2007 Arab media managers and supervisors will have a unique opportunity this fall to enhance their leadership skills and find innovative solutions to the challenges they face in media management through a comprehensive six-week fellowship that will include intense training at the prestigious Northwestern University Media Management Center in the Chicago suburb of Evanston, Illinois and on-site placements at US media outlets across the country.
MENA MEDIA Emerging Leaders Fellowship: Twelve mid-career Arab media professionals to win a three-month fellowship in the United States April 11, 2006 Arab journalists and editors will have a unique opportunity this fall to improve their media management skills through a comprehensive three-month fellowship that will include academic training with the prestigious Northwestern University in Chicago and on-site assignments at American media companies.	MENA MEDIA TV Production Fund: Small Grants Available to Arab TV Companies to Produce Local Content March 16, 2006 Independent Arab television news producers will be able to obtain financial support for their research and productions this year. The TV Production Fund Small Grants awards will be made under the MENA MEDIA program, administered through the International Research & Exchanges Board (IREX) and AmmanNet, and funded by the US Department of State Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI).
IREX Organizes Middle East Conference on Development of Independent Media December 9, 2004 by Michael Clarke IREX recently organized and hosted a State Department Middle East Partnership Initiative and USAID-funded workshop, “Strategies for Sustainable Media Development for the Middle East and North Africa,” in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
