Through an intensive academic program, internships, and community service experiences, these students are building the skills, knowledge and attitudes they will need to become successful and productive global citizens. YTP participants often address child marriage in community plays

I’ve just returned from a series of meetings in New York. With the UN General Assembly  and the annual Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) conference taking place, the energy in the international development community was palpable.

I was especially excited to learn about the new Girls Not Brides initiative launched at CGI by The Elders in partnership with the Ford and Nike Foundations, as gender is one of IREX’s core focus areas.

Tova Pertman, Senior Program Officer in IREX’s Education Programs Division, recently returned from the Community Schools Academy in Vadu lui Voda, Moldova, of the Youth Civic Engagement and Dialogue (YCED) program. The program, implemented in partnership with Romani CRISS, brings together Roma and non-Roma youth in Romania and Moldova to work together in and out of schools to improve their communities.
