Gobal UGRAD Pakistan Fellow, Fahad Farooqi at Shoshone Falls

IREX is pleased to announce the Spring 2011 winners of the “Day in the Life of a Global UGRAD-Pakistan Fellow” video competition. Farhan, studying at Augustana College, and Fahad, studying at the College of Southern Idaho, submitted outstanding videos presenting their experiences at a US college or university and their understanding of American culture and values. Their videos were selected for their creativity and clarity in demonstrating both the uniqueness and breadth of their American experiences.

On Jawad’s first day volunteering at the Child Development Center in Chadron, Nebraska, a throng of children greeted him with a volley of snowballs. By the end of the day, the children had not only made Jawad a snowman, but they had also changed his perspective about working with young people.

Afza returned to Pakistan poised to make an impact after studying in the United States as a Global Undergraduate Exchange Program in Pakistan fellow. In March 2011, she helped organize an International Women’s Day conference with women business leaders in Islamabad to discuss topics such as women and law, the female mortality rate, and women in the financial sector.
