A group of 22 journalists and bloggers from throughout the Maghreb region attended IREX’s workshop on “North African Citizen Journalism Workshop” in Casablanca from May 23- 25, 2008. The group was regionally diverse, with nine Tunisians, eight Moroccans, four Algerians and a Libyan in attendance, along with several panelists from other Arab countries, representatives from Global Voices and Reporters Sans Frontieres.

This is a comprehensive style guide--it covers print, broadcast, and online media--was produced for the Get Out the Vote Campaign ahead of the 2007 parliamentary elections and a parliamentary TV show. Only a handful of media outlets in Jordan have style guides. With this new version, IREX hopes media outlets will be able to adapt the guide to their needs. The bilingual guide is written in Arabic and English. Topics include newswriting, newspaper design, writing for radio and television, and conducting Web research.
