Ukraine Media Partnership Program (UMPP) Fact Sheet

The Ukraine Media Partnership Program (UMPP) develops the professionalism of the Ukrainian media sector by creating and fostering long-term professional relationships between American and Ukrainian media outlets.

UMPP was launched in 2002 with funding from the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) of the U.S. Department of State. Since 2005, the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine has funded UMPP.

Media Program in Moldova (MPM) Fact Sheet

Description: 

Media Program in Moldova is a three-year project aiming to support the development of a network of regional independent television stations providing citizens with a sustainable source of objective local news and information. Additional to this, IREX intends to build the capacity of Transnistrain media to serve local information needs.

IREX currently implements Media Program in Moldova through funding from the US Agency for International Development (USAID).

Serbia Media Assistance Program (SMAP) Fact Sheet

Description: 

IREX has supported independent media in Serbia since 1997. Through training, consulting, and small grants, IREX works to support the development of the skills and capacity of independent Serbian media organizations and journalists. The goal is to enable them to become self-sustaining and offer the citizens of Serbia balanced and comprehensive news and information.

IREX currently implements the Serbia Media Assistance Program in Serbia, funded by the US Agency for International Development (USAID).

Iraq Media Study - National Audience Analysis

IREX commissioned D3 Systems to research Iraqi citizens in order to obtain information on media usage across demographic and psychographic variables.

IREX commissioned D3 Systems to research media usage in Iraq across demographic and psychographic variables. 

The survey revealed a general distrust of TV media; the highest rated TV network in Iraq was seen as "trusted" by only 33% of Iraqis. This distrust of media in Iraq extends to foreign language media as well with most (67%) Iraqis expressing distrust in non-Iraqi news.
