Russia has recently undertaken two major policy initiatives aimed at strengthening science and innovation in its universities: the “National Research University” competition to increase funding to a select group of universities, and the “Megagrant” program to attract “star” scientists to lead labs in universities. Traditionally, the Russian Academy of Sciences has been the center of scientific research, while universities focused on education.

The priorities for the higher education system in Armenia are: the equitable access to higher education for all the groups of the society and overall increase of enrollment, increase of funding and modernization of financing mechanisms, and the introduction of the internal systems for the quality assurance and accreditation of higher institutions. The purpose of this study is to establish and analyze the factors behind the success of alumni relations and the culture of giving back at the University of Nebraska at Omaha-Alumni Association and to recommend the same practices to the University of Dar-es-Salaam-Alumni Association.

The purpose of this case study was to examine the grant administration practices at Kent State University in the USA and derive lessons for improving upon grant administration at the University of Education, Winneba in Ghana. Specifically, the study sought to describe and compare the organizational structure and policy framework within which grant administration is carried out at Kent State, the pre- and post-award practices, resources and faculty development practices at KSU and UEW. Lessons were drawn to help improve upon the practice at UEW.
